TOPIC / KEYWORDS

New Music Director for 7pm; Visit from the Swan Family (from Chile); Simon's speaking opportunities in UK & NZ

Dear Friends,

1. We are thankful to God for bringing Rob Llewellyn (and his wife Laura) to lead the 7pm music at St Thomas’. Rob is in first year at Moore College. He is a musician who has played with the SSO and we look forward to his ministry to us and ours to him. He is about my (normal) height so please look out to welcome him.

2. It is a joy to have Tim and Sally (Lachlan, Annabelle, Edward and Adelaide) Swan at St Thomas’ this week. [We now have mission links with his brother Philip (and Guinevere) Swan working with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Santani, West Papua as well.] If you are new to St Thomas’, Tim and Sally are former members here and are now working in Santiago, Chile (as Church Missionary Society missionaries) where Tim is the Academic Dean and lecturer at the Centre for Pastoral Studies. The CEP (as it is known) equips people for ministry – either lay or ordained. Speaking with Sally this week, she tells me that the recent earthquake has had less effect in Santiago, but they are concerned for pastors and people in the Concepcion area where there is major damage. We will hear more this week and are deeply thankful for the privilege of partnering with the Swans in Santiago.

3. Speaking of partnership, would you work with me by praying for the ministry that I will be involved in from next weekend in the UK then New Zealand? I would value it very much and be very grateful. The two centres (Wimbledon, UK and Hamilton, NZ) have made it possible for Kathy and me to go together, but we are feeling weak and unfit for it. May the Lord be strong and gracious.
