Dear Friends,
Two weeks ago I drove (with Nath Lee) to visit the Youthworks Campus
at Loftus.
Youthworks is a college in our diocese specifically designed to
train people part-time or full-time for their ministry
to children, youth or families.
I was very impressed by the staff and campus and quality training
that is available now accredited towards further training
at Moore College (so you can begin at Youthworks and finish at Moore).
I jotted down some notes and sent back a page to Graham Stanton
(the able young Principal) to help him get through to senior ministers
in Sydney who may not have realised the benefits, or let their congregation
know. Here is my draft page

So youre a busy Senior Minister...

You thank God for your Sunday School teachers and Youth
leaders but wish there was a part-time (even one day
a week) way to move them to a whole new level of knowledge
and skill

You keep hoping there will (somehow) be key leaders
for ongoing ministry to children and youth but you need
to tap someone on the shoulder and suggest they actually
train for a role

You imagine youth leaders are all aged 1825 but
in fact there are people aged in their 30s, 40s,
50s, 60s, 70s in your church with
gifts to help children and youth and some of them are
now freer to train

You want people to go to Moore and SMBC but hope some
would emerge with a vision for long-term ministry to
children and youth and wish there was a course that
feeds into theological study

You think that Youthworks is training people for just
youth ministry and dont realise that its
equipping people to serve 025 year olds so its
children, youth and family training at

You know roughly where other colleges are situated but
dont quite know where Loftus is situated
not realising its a great campus a few minutes
from Engadine, Sutherland, Jannali, Gymea
