giving

supporting the work of the gospel at st thomas'

We have received God's ultimate generosity to us in the death of his Son, who "though he was rich, yet for our sakes became poor, so that through his poverty we might become rich." (2 Corinthians  8:9)

The ministry of St Thomas' receives almost all of its support from the giving of the members of the St Thomas' family. The importance of regular and generous giving is something that all members should be aware of, and everyone is encouraged to consider prayerfully how they can contribute. The work at St Thomas' and beyond will be well provided for if everyone plays their faithful part.

God has entrusted resources to us for our personal use and wider use, but we don't actually own anything! We are stewards of what God has provided and we will one day give account for our stewardship. You may think that your small contribution is not worth making, but be assured that it honours God and all helps.

Weekly Offering: An offertory collection is taken during each service, and you can give in one of the following ways:

CASH or CHEQUE – You can give by placing cash or cheque* into the offertory bag during the Sunday services, and cheques can be forwarded to the church office at any time. If you would like your offering to go to a particular area of ministry then place your gift in an envelope marked with the name of the ministry, activity or organisation you would like to support (e.g. MTS, Moore College, SMBC, CMS, etc). Dated offertory envelopes are still used by some in the congregation and are available at the back of the church for those who wish to use them.

(*cheques should be made payable to St Thomas' Anglican Church North Sydney)

CREDIT CARD – You can make a credit card payment by providing your credit card details on a form provided in the church or available from the office.

The National Trust of Australia (NSW) St Thomas' Anglican Church Restoration Appeal

Some years ago, to provide greater facilities for the many ministries at St Thomas', a considerable loan was taken out for the restoration and improvement of the Memorial Hall. A fund was established by the National Trust of Australia which allowed tax-deductible gifts to be made to directly reduce the balance of the loan, thus reducing the interest payments and allowing our funds to be available to other ministry activities.

The loan for the restoration of the Memorial Hall has now been repaid and now (in 2009) we are making plans to restore and expand the Ministry Centre, where the church offices are located. This building is in a state of serious disrepair and its restoration and redevelopment will provide more suitable office accommodation for the clergy and administration staff as well as additional meeting rooms for ministry activities, and some residential units. More information about this project will be given as it becomes available.

The Ministry Centre project will require significant fund-raising in two parts — funds for the restoration and refurbishment of the existing building (Old Rectory) which will be eligible for tax-deductibility, plus separate funds for the new extension.

The easiest way to make a tax-deductible gift to the Ministry Centre restoration project is to use one of the "National Trust" forms available in the church or from the church office. Completed giving forms should be returned to the church office by mail or fax as indicated on the form, or placed in the offertory bag in an envelope marked "National Trust St Thomas' Restoration Appeal". A tax receipt will then be mailed to you.

You can make your tax-deductible gift by way of cash, cheque, credit card (MasterCard or Visa) or by direct deposit to the following account:
