prayer meetings

cross-congregational gatherings

All members of St Thomas' are encouraged to attend the cross-congregation Prayer Meetings which are held in the Memorial Hall at 8pm–9pm, usually on the first Wednesday of every second month (February to December).

These gatherings are important as we join together to pray to our Heavenly Father for our needs and concerns as a local church; for the work of the wider church; for our community; and for the world. We bring before Him our plans for the ongoing work of St Thomas', and we praise and thank God for His goodness to us – especially for the gift of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

The importance of prayer to our Heavenly Father is great, so please make these meetings a priority in your calendar. For many people these meetings are the few times they will gather with members of other St Thomas' congregations.

special prayer meetings

We continually commit the activities and plans of St Thomas' to the care and control of God as we acknowledge His sovereignty over our work and activity. We often meet together in smaller groups at other times to pray for particular needs and special projects. All members are encouraged to participate in these meetings whenever possible.

prayer before sunday services

A short prayer meeting is held (usually in the Vestry) about 20 minutes before the start of each Sunday service to pray for the service, the participants, the congregation and the preaching of God's Word. Anyone is welcome, and those who are going to participate in the services are particularly encouraged to attend.
