sunday school

classes for children from toddlers to age 15

Sunday School is a great opportunity for children to learn about God and what it means to follow Jesus and live as a Christian.Kids at Sunday School

In all St Thomas' children's activities, we aim to be clear, faithful and loving Bible teachers of your children so that they may know God and respond to Him with a growing trust and obedience.

St Thomas' Sunday School is held during the 10am Family Service. Children usually meet with the adults at the start of the service then leave shortly after with their Sunday School teachers for their own classes – which are split-up into the following age groups:

All the children's activities are held in buildings within the church grounds using programs which are specially prepared to assist in presenting the gospel to the age group concerned.

The activities for younger children usually include singing songs about God, Jesus and the world he has created. There are games or other activities such as a craft to show parents what we have been learning. Older children learn memory verses, or do a short informal Bible study. We all enjoy a snack together for morning tea.

Sunday School lasts until the end of the 10am church service, and parents and carers can collect their children from their classes after the service.

The regular Sunday School curriculum runs through school term time only, but during school holidays an alternative children's programme is also offered.

All Sunday School teachers, and children/youth leaders comply with the Anglican Church guidelines for leaders. The standards of dealing with children are high and carefully maintained. All leaders are chosen with care and responsibility and are known to the St Thomas' Ministry Staff.

Crèche facilities are available for babies and toddlers in the church vestry.

For more information about St Thomas' children's activities please contact the Children's Ministry worker, Alison Macintosh, at the church office.
